For the structural analysis of the building as a starting point we take the architectural hypothesis suggested in the previous chapter, I found references to other ancient buildings (documented in the chapter "References") that lead to predict that the hypothesis is correct but there is no complete assurance confirmation.
building structural analysis establishes the constructive section reflecting both heights, the higher the field and buried in the crypt retaining walls surrounding land.
The building combines three different materials in the implementation of its walls and structural elements: Granite
are made in local granite facades of the crypt key and probably the entire top floor which was above ground and in the light: The retaining walls of the plant bottom are made of granite and brick are made of granite stone pool and soldiers from the Crypt, and probably lost the floor upstairs.
Marble columns of frames which are below the ceiling alight in marble, in all probability Incio O Quarry. Ceramic
The vaults, both the bottom, with the top and the walls that support and lower arches of the porticos and the door of the facade of the crypt and the communication between brokers and the ladder are made of bricks ceramics, probably brought from outside the region by the craftsmen who built the shrine. The use this material in the most unique to imagine an alien to the common knowledge in the Roman Gallaecia.
The combination of structural elements of each material described can take advantage of the specific technical characteristics of each. The use of marble in the interior columns should, in all probability to the need to enhance the place where the devotee receives baptism.
Structural analysis was performed using structural design software, thermal, and magnetic fluids, based on finite element, Ansys Multiphysics in the Department of Construction Technology.
After the structural study of this unique building was concluded that the collapse of the building was reached by the combination of two factors:
a) A fault in the foundation of the main pillars, which rest in a puddle of water literally ground current, and over time weakens the strong support on which the four pillars of the crypt poorly braced together .
b) A small shift in the media makes the combination of gates and a vault that contains the building collapse, collapsing the center of the building. The vault is open in its central part which makes it possible desplazaminetos unstable support.
